What's NOT!
- "Patterned & Unflattered"
Leggings with bright tribal prints were the essential of a middle school girl's closet. Tribal prints had started through leggings but has evolved another fashion sense. with tribal designed phone cases and tanktops becoming popular.
I chose the patterned leggings trend because I remember always wanting these leggings and when every girl in school was wearing them. In Disney television shows like, "Wizards of Waverly Place", characters would always be wearing these brightly colored type of pants which strongly influenced the styles of the girls watching. Not only were actresses the influence but also the celebrities with more simplistic of a color scheme, like grey and nude. These leggings were often matched with a solid colored t-shirt or sweater and boots. I think this trend will eventually fade away because bright complicated prints are fading out and for a majority aren't sold in stores anymore. More and more stores are selling darker basic colors, especially with fall around the corner. I think that this trend is gone and won't come back due to what is curently being worn by the upper-class and what is being sold in stores.
What's Now!
"Cargo, Never Go!"
Cargo jackets have swept the stores and found a home in almost every female's closet. This army green jacket isn't just worn for protection, also for style as it matches with a variety of things.
The reason I chose the cargo jacket trend is because it is becoming more and more popular in street fashion. Model's and social media have a strong lead and influence on this style. These jackets have been expressed in fashion magazines to the teenage girls and young adults. But not only are young folks wearing these, middle-aged women and even the elderly, my grandma included. This trend is "in" on all age levels, which has made it a national fashion. Cargo jackets are often worn with a simple white top, a striped tee, or even striped t-shirt dresses. This trend could've been influenced by army coats and/or the jean sweater jackets. It doesn't have any competition because it is a rising fashion and will stay for multiple fall seasons.

"Scallops are Galloping Into a Closet Near You..."
"Scallops" are a clothing hem style typically at the end of a sleeve or on the bottom of a garment. Scallops are designed on shorts, dresses, skirts, shirts, and tanktops.
This trend was chosen because I am a big fan of this myself and have noticed people wearing it, little by little. Scalloped shorts have recently gained popularity in preppy attire and will eventually trickle their way down into every day fashion and up to the celebrities. Scalloped shorts started this trend and then later made its way into shirts, skirts, and dresses. I believe this trend will become very popular during the spring season as most of the colors designed are pastel. I have seen this trend in a few small preppy designer boutiques but is slowly making its way into more well-known stores.
